Course Overview
In order to complete the course, students must be in attendance from start to finish and participate in all class activities. Students who finish the class will receive a completion card with no expiration.
Topics Covered In This Class
- Introduction to OSHA – OSHA’s mission and standards, as well as employee and employer responsibilities, resources, whistleblower protections, and how to report hazards.
- Exits and Fire Protection – Requirements for exit locations and markings, fire prevention, and the basic characteristics of emergency action plans.
- Walking Surfaces and Fall Protection – Students will discuss hazards and controls for potential slip, trip, and fall incidents.
- Ergonomics – Learning the proper use of tools and good work practices to prevent musculoskeletal disorders in the workplace, as well as early recognition to prevent long-term injury.
- Electrical Hazards – Identify and describe types of electrical hazards, as well as protection methods and employer requirements to protect works from electrical hazards.
- Hazard Communications – Students will learn to recognize pertinent information and responsibilities related to hazard communications using OSHA and general industry information.
- Personal Protective Equipment – Students will learn to describe the hierarchy of controls as it relates to PPE, requirements, and control responsibilities of both the employer and employee.
- Bloodborne Pathogens – This specific training, which can also be incorporated with First Aid, will help students identify potential workers at risk of exposure to bloodborne pathogens, methods for control, and steps to take if exposed.
